Beauty Advent Calendars - Over £50

On Friday I posted my Beauty Advent Calendars Under £50.00 if you haven't read it yet you can check it out here. Most of the advent calendars on the market are over £50 and I found this post very difficult having to choose just five as there are so many nice ones and I would be happy to have any of them to be honest.

1. Clarins 12 Day Advent Calendar
Let's start off with the slightly cheaper Advent Calendars and work our way up. First is Clarins for £60, not too badly priced and you get 12 days. The packaging is lovely and you could definitely reuse it after you've finished opening it. If you are a Clarins fan then you could always treat yourself! Mainly consisting of skincare items, you do get a couple of makeup items and a candle, which I think is a really great idea, having a nice candle really relaxes me. They also have one with 24 days which I saw after I had seen this one for £95.00.

2. Clinique - 24 Days Of Clinique
Clinique is the first high-end brand that I bought some makeup from with my mum, so I think their advent calendar is worth including. There are 24 days for £79.00 which really isn't bad for 24 Clinique products, they haven't filled any days with rubbish nail files or stickers... You get a range of skincare and makeup items - but mainly skincare. All being mini versions, it includes one of their 3-step skincare systems. As most people know all their products are fragrance-free and this is one of the reasons why I love Clinique.

3. Deluxe Rituals
I don't know much about Rituals as a brand, I haven't tried any of their products, you're probably wondering how I can include their advent calendar if I don't even know anything about the products or brand. I've seen lots of positive reviews of products from Rituals. Also, their advent calendar the shape of it is a 3D Christmas Tree! So for design reasons I had to include it. Right?!

4. Cowshed Advent Calendar
I'm including one that I haven't seen many people talk about in other blog posts or YouTube videos that I've watched. Cowshed have created a 24-day advent calendar with some of their most loved products in minatures for your hands, hair, face and body, perfect for someone who enjoys body lotions and bath and shower gels.

5. Fenwick Advent Calendar
Oh my goodness, I think this is my favourite one, I love everything about it. I really like the design of the Fenwick Advent Calendar, a very wintery, snowy design of a Fenwick store. I think all advent calendars should be a proper Christmassy design whether they are filled with beauty products or chocolate. It has two doors that open out and those doors reveal the 24 little doors filled with either full-size or deluxe travel-size beauty treats good enough for an excited squeal each day, including products from Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, NARS. It's quite similar to the John Lewis one with what brands are included. It's an expensive calendar at £150, but it would make a perfect gift for someone!

My Top 5 Beauty Advent Calendars - Under £50

I have been hunting the internet for this year's Beauty Advent Calendars, this is one of my favourite blog posts to do, I can dream about which advent calendars I would buy if I had an endless pot of money. I found it really hard to pick out a selected number of advent calendars as a lot of brands are stepping up their game with designs and products. So I thought it was best to split the blog posts into two with two different price ranges, in this post I have chosen 5 calendars under £50, which, won't come as a surprise, wasn't really too difficult to pick out as pretty much all the advent calendars are over £50, so my choice wasn't as varied.

Rimmel London Influenster VoxBox

In September I was lucky enough to receive my very first Influenster VoxBox which I was very excited about, I know I'm a little late to the party with this, but it really is the first chance that I have had to sit down and write about the products. The complimentary box contained the brand new Rimmel Lasting Foundation and concealer, along with a Kate Moss sculpting palette and a lipstick.

I'll be honest, when my little Influenster box arrived I was asleep when the postman banged on my door (which wasn't appreciated) and so I didn't actually know it was there until I went out later that day, because he had left it on my doorstep and not bothered to put a card through the door. However, I was very excited when I found it.

So onto the actual products now, First up we have the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation, and it says that it's Rimmel's most lightweight, longwearing formula and lasts up to 25 hours with a light to medium buildable coverage. When I applied it, it was a light coverage, it is definitely buildable but I don't really like putting on more than one layer of foundation. It had a very matte finish which made my face look quite flat (when I've heard people say that I never really knew what they meant until I used this foundation). It gave a very natural finish and looked like my skin and I felt like I had nothing on my face which I liked. I received the lightest shade and I think if I'd of had a shade darker I think it would have looked so much better, the shade I got was just too light.

I used a brush to apply and finished it off with a beauty blender, blending it was easy if you work with it quickly, I didn't get long from putting it on my face to it starting to dry before I'd finished blending. Something I haven't mentioned is that it has SPF which is a big plus as there aren't enough foundations around with SPF in.
The applicator of this foundation is a doe foot which I have never used before with a foundation before, I really liked it, it makes it simple to apply reducing the risk of spillages. There are thirteen shades of this foundation which isn't too bad but I hope they extend further.

The Lasting Finish Breathable Concealer, again there are things that I like and dislike about it. The colour I liked because I quite often prefer to have a lighter concealer to give a more highlighted look, I also like the sponge applicator, I know it's probably not the most hygienic kind of applicator but using something softer around the eyes is so much better in such a delicate area. Again I am not too keen on how it blends out, it doesn't blend out very well as it drys too quickly, it is also very light coverage and doesn't really cover up my blemishes which is what I want a concealer to do, so I would only use it under my eyes. With this concealer there are only six shades, so they definitely need to bring out a few more shades!

Along with the new foundation and concealer, I received the Kate Moss Sculpting Palette in Coral Glow. When I swatched it, I thought it came out quite powdery and it took a lot to build up colour (the pigmentation wasn't great is what I'm trying to say). They seemed powdery when I put a brush to them as well, however, when I applied it to my face it actually came out pretty well. The contour is a good shade and you don't need too much to give a subtle contour, the blush came out really nice on my cheeks too, it is slightly orangey (with it being a coral shade). I do normally go for a blush shade with a shimmer, so this is a little matte for me, but makes a lovely subtle daytime look. As for the highlighter; this was the least impressive, it is not very pigmented, is matte and doesn't look like I have put any on. I like to have that real pigmented glow where it's a real shimmery glow.

Finally the lipstick in the shade Vintage Pink, I have never purchased one of their Moisture Renew lipsticks before. The shade I received isn't the normal kind of colour I would go for with it being a pinky shade with lilac/purple tones. I love how moisturising it is, it didn't dry my lips out at all and is pretty pigmented too. I would definitely pick up one of these in another shade.

This was my final look, using just the Rimmel products on my face. I would recommend trying these as they are good products, whilst some of them might not be for me I can see that they are really good products. The foundation retails for £8.99 and the concealer is £6.49.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products an what your thoughts are!

Xx

*I received the products complimentary from Influenster, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Top 5 Halloween Movies

It's Halloween tomorrow, I'm still excited even though I'm not actually doing anything for it this year. I'm annoyed I didn't get to do more Halloween themed blog posts this year, but I have had quite a lot of stuff going on recently, I have managed though, to come up with some movies I think would be good to watch tomorrow night if you're having a quiet one. I have covered everything from Children's' movies to comedy to your classic horror film.

1. Practical Magic
I love Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as a duo in this film. It's about two witches who are sisters that live with their aunts' who also have powers. They are very different in personality and in the film they use their magic powers on spells for love. Not a scary film really, but Witchy vibes are perfect for Halloween.

2. Hocus Pocus
You can't help but love this movie, it's Disney so you know it's pretty safe. Three witches who are brought back to life, causing trouble and two teens and a young girl have the job of stopping them and their trouble. I mean it's a classic, Bette Midler is amazing, you have to watch if you haven't already.

3. Shaun Of The Dead
For the comedy lovers, if you want something light and fairly easy to watch then this is the film for you. Sean and his friend basically have to fight off an army of zombies trying to save their loved ones along the way. This is a film my dad and I watch together as we have the same sense of humor, he finds it particularly funny.

4. Halloween
The classic horror movie, you can't not watch at least one of the Halloween movies, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, they are creepy, scary and have some good jump scary parts, just my level of scariness where I can still watch the actual film and not spend the whole time covering my eyes, I never get bored of these movies.

5. The Ring
A more modern horror film, and one that I haven't seen, this is one that I want to try and attempt to watch, I have watched the beginning, but I had to switch it off because I literally could not face what was going to happen, we are talking at the very beginning of the film, you know how I said not covering your eyes for the entire movie, yeah, well that's what I would probably be doing with this movie. As it is Halloween though, I will try and give it another go.

Bonus: A bonus one, it's not a film, but I definitely think it is worth including in this post and that is, American Horror Story, it is a TV series I know, but if you want to get into something pretty gritty I would say, and this is exactly my kind of scary then give it go!

What are you doing for Halloween this year? Which scary films will you be watching? Let me know!

Happy Halloween!

Why I Love Autumn

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons, along with Summer, although I don't like how cold it has been so far this year, it's too soon for it to be this cold! This is just a little easy read post of some of the reasons why I love Autumn.

SS Fashion Roundup

We are heading into the Autumn/Winter season at full speed now, Summer literally left overnight and it got noticeably colder so quickly. Around the beginning of Spring/Summer, I had written a blog post of the trends that were going to be dominant throughout the seasons but I never got around to posting it. So instead of it going completely to waste, I am going to do a round up post of what trends have been around for Spring and Summer, and I have included some items that you can still get.
